HUNTSVILLE SKATING CLUB - COACHES

I have been a figure skater for over 30 years! I came to love this sport at a very young age, and have been lucky enough to be able to continue working in my passion. I trained at both the Guelph Figure Skating Club and the Kitchener - Waterloo Skating Club.
During my many years of skating I had many exciting opportunities, and was able to travel throughout Canada and the United States competing. One of my highlights was skating in the Closing Ceremonies of the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988. It was a real life experience! During my time in Kitchener I had years of training under such coaches as Paul Sales. He is currently a National level coach with Dance teams competing for Canada. He danced me through to my Gold Dance test, another wonderful accomplishment. I also trained under John Caughill, who as well coached national level skaters for many years. I was captain of the Kitchener-Waterloo Kweens on Ice a syncro skating team that was nationally ranked for many years. We were pioneers in this exciting and growing section of Figure Skating.
This is my 9th year with the Huntsville Skating Club and I coached for 7 years with the Lake of Bays Skating Club. I am a certified Skating Coach through Skate Canada. The coaching program through NCCP is undergoing major changes right now, and I will be continuing to upgrade my training and taking advantage of any viable training courses.
I hope children will come to love the sport of figure skating along with me. With some fun and hard work, I think that is possible. I hope to motivate young skaters to strive for more and celebrate their successes together. My goals for coaching figure skating are to be positive, motivating and encouraging to everyone. I would like each skater to realize his or her goals through this great sport.
I am available for private and semi-private lessons on most sessions in all disciplines; Freeskating, Dance, and Skills. I am available for lessons on the Junior and Senior ice times, on all days offered by the Club.
