2024/2025 Volunteer Fee for CanSkate Programs:
The Huntsville Skating Club is an organization run by volunteers, without whom the club would not be able to exist. As a result, our Club requires CanSkate families to volunteer 4 hours of time for each skater registered each season to support the activities of the Club.
As part of the CanSkate registration process, we will collect a volunteer fee of $50 per skater. At regular intervals during the year, the Club will review the volunteer hours completed by families and upon completion of the required hours of volunteer work, the $50 volunteer fee will be refunded. Refunds will be processed in the same manner in which the original payment was made. Note that if registering for both Fall and Winter seasons upon initial registration, only 6 hours of time would need to be volunteered to earn the refund rather than 8 hours.
We have many opportunities for volunteers to use their talents and skills for a few hours over the course of the year. Some examples are listed below:

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Huntsville Skating Club is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Meetings are held on a monthly basis. Please email us at [email protected] if you would like to know more. Volunteering on the Board of Directors would earn a full refund of any volunteer fees for the corresponding family.
Skokie Skate
The Huntsville Skating Club will be hosting a Star 1-4 competition this year January 17-19, 2025. Opportunities to volunteer in preparation of the competition as well as the weekend of the competition will exist. Volunteers are needed to assist with admissions, registration, hospitality, announcing, music, set up and tear down, and ice marshalling. Please reach out to the Club at [email protected] if you are interested to learn more.
ICE SHOW/YEAR END GALA
The Huntsville Skating Club hosts its Ice Show at the conclusion of the winter season in April. This season our show will be held on April 6, 2025. Volunteers are needed to assist with backdrop set up, prop making, costume planning and acquisition, admissions, programs and flowers sales table, announcing, music, set up and tear down, and costume distribution and collection. Please email the club at [email protected] if you would be interested to sit on a committee for our ice show, or would like to volunteer for a particular role.
CANSKATE CLUB TABLE VOLUNTEER
The Huntsville Skating Club’s CANSkate and PRE-CANSkate programs are an essential part of our club’s activities. Volunteering at the Club table is a great way to learn about the basics of the program, communicate with other parents and witness the smiles when a skater earns a badge or ribbon. A calendar will be posted during the PRE-CANSkate and CANSkate sessions. If you are interested in volunteering time at the Club table, email [email protected] or simply sign up on the posted calendar.
